Um, do you know that I’ve coached hundreds of women since I started offering dream career guidance in 2008? And that these women are freakin’ rock stars, leaving soul-sucking jobs and traveling the world and launching creative, grown-up businesses and simply doing work that fits their lifestyle goals? Well ya do now – and you’ll hear their stories firsthand in my Client Case Studies series! When Heather Challberg and I started working together this June via my Boost Your Dream Business sessions, she had a successful jewelry shop on Etsy (7 years and 16k+ sales, hello!) but knew she needed to scale in order to grow – and didn’t know where to start. Well, when we wrapped up she signed on for my Build Your Client Base mastermind so she could get the continued action plan, accountability, guidance and support while launching her own site *and* going into the holiday season without her head exploding. I can’t wait for you to see what it’s like when an already-successful biz owner decides it’s time to take things to the next level!
Why did you decide to work with me?
I had been following you for a year or two and knew that someday I would work with you. This year I finally got tired of not moving forward with my business so I decided to go for it!
What were you doing work-wise when we started working together – and what are you doing now?
When we started working together I had been running my business on Etsy for about 7 years, and it had reached a plateau for the last 3 years. I was getting orders, and filling orders, but that was about all. It was comfortable, but stagnant. I realized that I wanted to grow it bigger to see where that could take me. Now I’m still getting orders and filling orders, but I’m also working ON my business. With your guidance and help with my lagging motivation, I’ve managed to finish my standalone website. Every day I try to do something that will grow my business. Sometimes it’s only for 15 minutes, but it’s still bringing me closer to the growth that I can now see just around the corner.
What was your biggest takeaway from our work together?
My biggest takeaway was that I need to prioritize the next steps instead of just feeling overwhelmed by all the things I could be doing. I’m a person who gets easily distracted by new thoughts and ideas, and you keep me focused on what I NEED to do first. Now I have a general road map for the areas I need to focus on in order to build my business efficiently.
Think of someone who is currently in the shoes you wore when we first started working together. What advice do you have for her?
My advice to anyone who has a semi-successful Etsy shop is to not “put all your eggs in one basket”. I’ve been lucky in that the Etsy algorithm has always worked for me. But now that I’m trying to make this business more of a steady income, it’s important to branch out. So get a coach and figure out your business priorities.
Is there anything that’s been a game-changer for you when it comes to your business that you can share? We’d love a good resource or a mindset/productivity tip!
I think one of the best things I ever did for my business was to take a product photography class through parks and rec. If you’re product-based you NEED good pictures. And you don’t necessarily need a fancy digital camera. My first pics (and some of my best pics) were taken on a Canon Powershot point and shoot camera that I learned how to use correctly in class.
What’s on the horizon for your business? We’d love to hear about any upcoming offerings or goals!
Well, the holiday season is coming up, so I’m busily trying to prep for that and I’ll be releasing new products in November. Otherwise, I’m always super happy when someone signs up for my e-mail list. I don’t normally do sales, but I always give a new sign up a discount code at my stand alone website!
Where can we find you and your work?
