Client Case Study: Vicky Cook

I’m so happy to re-welcome Vicky Cook to the Client Case Studies series! A 2-year participant of my Build Your Client Base mastermind, we first met her last year as the founder of Heart & Moxie, coaching high-achieving women over 40. Welp, she took a step back from that business when it wasn’t quite clicking, reassessed, researched, and launched The Intuitive Intropreneur just last month! You’re *definitely* gonna wanna hear what she has to say about her journey to this new passion-based biz. Enjoy!

When we last spoke with you, you were operating Heart & Moxie, a coaching business for high-achieving women over 40. Is your business the same, or has anything evolved?

I believe I was just getting started to kick off my small group program last year for Heart & Moxie (although, to be honest, I’m not really sure when I last did this, or where I was in my business at the time! 🙁 ). BUT, since then, my business has definitely evolved. With Michelle’s support & guidance, I shut down my prior coaching business to pivot to an entirely new niche and focus.

Let’s talk wins! What have you been most proud of in your business since we last featured you?

Nailing the niche and focus of my new business, doing the market research, and launching with a sound strategy. Within my first month, while building relationships and my new community from scratch, I landed a dream collaboration that will get me in front of a large audience of my ideal/target clients.

Have there been any long-term takeaways from our work together?

Too many to count! The first thing that comes to mind is strategy and systems. Michelle has helped me lay a strong foundation in how to run my business, so even as I pivot, I can lean into what she’s taught me to lay a strong foundation right from the start. She’s also taught me how to think strategically for my business, so in launching my new practice, I felt so much stronger and more confident. I didn’t have doubts that I’m the CEO of my business, and I’m thrilled that I’ve acted from this place, instead of from a place of fear.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to someone transitioning from being a “newbie” business owner into a more seasoned or accomplished business owner?

Trust your gut. It’s great to listen to the advice and wisdom of those who’ve gone before you because that’s a wonderful way to learn. BUT, only you can know what’s an appropriate strategy that aligns with your gifts, skills, goals, and preferences. Someone else’s plan may not be the right one for you, so apply what fits and evolve, or reject, what doesn’t. If you can learn to trust yourself and your judgment calls, you’ll make stronger and more aligned decisions for your business in the long run.

Is there anything that’s been a game-changer for you when it comes to your business that you can share? We’d love a good resource or a mindset/productivity tip!

Keep a business journal! I’ve been doing this for a little while and it helps me in so many ways. First, I can corral all of my ideas, brainstorms, notes, etc. in one place, AND I can journal about what’s working, what’s hard, what I’m scared of, how I overcame those fears, etc. These journal entries are a goldmine when you want to connect and teach your clients because you have a record of what you felt and experienced when you were in their shoes (and how you overcame it!).

What’s on the horizon for your business? We’d love to hear about any upcoming offerings or goals!

My first focus is open my calendar for my 1:1 coaching program – From Invisible to Impactful! I’m super excited to partner with some female introverted entrepreneurs (intropreneurs!) to help them rewrite the extroverted ‘rules’ that are currently holding keeping them hostage in their fear/comfort zones so they can confidently show up for their business and finally make the impact they deeply desire.

Where can we find you and your work?
