Client Case Study: Eustacia Huen

Eustacia Huen is building a media empire, you guys (my words, not hers!) and I am *so* here for it. It’s been such a privilege to have worked with her through the launch of her food-lifestyle site, 22Carrots and then seamlessly carry on our time together through my Build Your Client Base mastermind this January. I can’t wait to introduce you to her and all the smart insight she has!

Why did you decide to work with me?

Among the business coaches I’ve considered, you’ve clearly spent the most time learning about me. I like that your approach is more collaborative—and your introductory Loom video is A+! It’s short, sweet and super insightful. While I’d pretty much made up my mind before our first call, I was even more sure when you pinpointed my order of priorities without me having to say anything.

What were you doing work-wise when we started working together – and what are you doing now?

I was—and still am—a freelance writer, with bylines for publications such as Forbes Life, The Washington Post, WSJ Asia etc. But since working with you, I’ve launched 22Carrots—a website focused on food-lifestyle crossovers. Right now, that’s my obsession—churning content, applying to affiliate programs and selecting products for an e-store!

What was your biggest takeaway from our work together?

Don’t wait for perfection.

Think of someone who is currently in the shoes you wore when we first started working together. What advice do you have for her?

Dream big and share those seemingly truncated ideas with you no matter how ridiculous they seem. You have a fantastic way of making sense of them and turning them into workable steps.

Is there anything that’s been a game-changer for you when it comes to your business that you can share? We’d love a good resource or a mindset/productivity tip!

Sounds cliche, but just go for it. As someone who tends to overthink, I always give myself unnecessary obstacles. But by putting myself out there, reaching out to PR reps and vendors about my site, I find the response is constantly better than what I had expected.

What’s on the horizon for your business? We’d love to hear about any upcoming offerings or goals!

Aside from posting regularly on 22Carrots, I’m working with a designer to improve the site design. Recently, we’ve introduced a magazine format (on the web version) and an e-store—where you’ll find quality products with food-lifestyle crossovers (think art, fashion, food, beauty, travel, books, gifts and more). Moving forward, I want to develop closer relationships with vendors so readers can get exclusive deals, better product selections, and ultimately crossover products stamped with the 22Carrots logo.

Another hot-ticket item on my list is recruitment. I’m looking for a meticulous copy editor and social media strategist—to define the site’s house style plus pitching guide and help 22Carrots attract more followers/subscribers.

Content wise, I want 22Carrots to become a trusted authority within its niche. It will be a happy place for food lovers to appreciate awesome makers, influencers, designers and products; a place where they can have fun while learning something accidentally.

Where can we find you and your work?
