Applying for a job isn’t the easiest task in the world. Many graduates compete for different positions on different companies every year but end up not getting any interviews. It is a frustrating competition, and how your resume is built can be a significant factor.
Today’s good thing is that there are many online resume builder platforms that you can use, such as ResumeCompass.
ResumeCompass is one of the many resume builders you might have read on our comprehensive list of free and paid resume builders.
This extensive (and unbiased) ResumeCompass Resume Builder Review will discuss my experience creating a resume using their website. I will also discuss the pricing model, support options, if any, and any other information.

- Final Thoughts — Should You Build Your Resume Using ResumeCompass?
After reading this review of ResumeCompass, you will have a clearer idea and know for sure if you should build your next resume using the platform.
So, let’s get started.
About ResumeCompass
ResumeCompass was founded this year by Ryan Bucci. Several years ago, the idea came to him when he faced the same struggles that many job seekers and professionals are also experiencing.
The company was built to help eliminate different uncertainties of job applications. They believe that professionals shouldn’t have to spend a fortune to succeed in the modern work world, and we take pride in crafting the best tools and services at an affordable rate for every professional.
Building a Resume with ResumeCompass
I was attracted by the ‘Free Resume Builder’ tab on the home page’s dashboard, so I immediately clicked on it.
Clicking on the ‘Build Your Resume’ button will bring out a pop-out to prompt you to register for the website.
You can sign up using any email, and you also have the option to sign up for their newsletter or not.
The registration process is speedy, and you will be redirected to the resume builder page right away. But first, you will create your profile.
There is a progress bar that informs you how complete your resume is. It contains sections such as:
- Introduction.
- Work Experience.
- Education.
- Additional Sections.
- Theme and Style.
- Download.
After creating your profile, you will be redirected to the Resume Builder Dashboard.
Here you will create, view, edit, add, or delete sections on your resume that you’re building. It is advised to edit your resume credentials first.
Clicking on an ‘Add’ button on each section will redirect you to another page to fill out the information.
Using ResumeCompass’ resume builder is like filling out an application form, rather than manually writing your resume.
Once you are done, simply click on the ‘Continue’ button. You can also add more work experiences, or delete/edit the previously filled out work experiences.
If you don’t have other work experiences to add, you can click on the ‘Continue’ button to ‘Education.’
You will not get insights or tips while building your resume unless you upgrade your account to premium (which we will discuss later).
After filling out your education details, you proceed to add other sections to create further interest on your resume.
You can add sections such as:
- Certifications.
- Awards.
- Volunteer Experience.
- Projects.
- Hobby or Interest (PRO).
- Language (PRO).
- Miscellaneous Link (PRO).
- Professional Affiliation (PRO).
- Professional Reference (PRO).
If you are done, you can proceed to customize further the layout of your resume on the ‘Theme and Style’ section.
There are over 285 unique resume templates to choose from, and are categorized into:
- Accounting and Finance.
- Administrative.
- Architecture and Construction.
- Arts, Entertainment, and Design.
- Automotive.
- Biotech.
- Business.
- Customer Service.
- Education.
- Executive.
- Food Service.
- Government.
- Healthcare.
- Hospitality.
- Human Resources.
- Information Technology.
- Insurance.
- Legal.
- Manufacturing.
- Marketing and Advertising.
- Military.
- Personal Care.
- Real Estate.
- Retail.
- Sales.
- Social Services.
- Telecommunications.
- Transportation and Logistics.
To choose, simply click the ‘Select Template’ button.
Once you have selected a template, you will be redirected to the pricing model page of ResumeCompass.
If you don’t wish to upgrade to a Pro Package yet, you can click on the ‘Download Resume’ button to download your resume.
You can choose from 12 different colors to personalize the look of your resume.
Once satisfied with the contents, you can download your resume in a Word Document format.
Building a Cover Letter with ResumeCompass
I have stressed in my other articles how important a cover letter is to a resume. You can also build a cover letter with ResumeCompass, as long as you upgrade to the pro package.
If you don’t want to build a cover letter, you can also opt for ResumeCompass’ professional cover letter services.

ResumeCompass Job Match Scanner
Most companies use Applicant Tracking System (ATS) software to sift through tons of resumes passed at their office.
The ResumeCompass Job Match Scanner is a feature where you can help make sure your resume and cover letter are tailored to the description of the job that you’re applying to.
Once you upgrade to a Pro package, you can get this feature.
ResumeCompass Privacy Policy
Here are some of ResumeCompass’ policies on privacy:
- They will only process your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy laws in addition to the EU GDPR.
- They automatically log information about you and your computer or mobile device when you access our website, i.e., your IP address.
- They will only retain your data as long reasonably required to use the website until you close your account/cancel your subscription unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (for example, for regulatory purposes).
ResumeCompass Support
You can search many common answers in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page or send an email using the contact form.
You may also visit their blog if you want to browse for some articles about self-development, career, etc.
ResumeCompass Resume Builder Reviews
I only found one review from Producthunt that gave ResumeCompass a rating of 5 out of 5. This isn’t surprising as the website is still relatively new compared to its other counterparts.

Final Thoughts — Should You Build Your Resume Using ResumeCompass?
ResumeCompass is new to the market, but it doesn’t shy off from its features. The resume builder was simple, and using it felt like I was filling out an application form online.
With that said, I think that a few improvements can be made, such as including suggestions whenever a keyword is typed, or some pre-written examples to help newbies kickstart their resume.
Nonetheless, I think that ResumeCompass is a good resume builder for anyone who wants to create a quick resume. The price to upgrade to a pro package isn’t steep as well, and you can even have your resume scored.
